How to Attach Feet to an Acrylic Clawfoot Tub

If you’re ready to attach the feet to your clawfoot tub, follow these simple, DIY-friendly instructions for a seamless process.

Tools & Materials


  • 11/16" wrench

  • 1/4" wrench

  • 2 bars*

  • 4 mounting bolts*

  • 4 flat washers*

  • 4 locking washers*

Installation Process

Step 1 - carefully lay the tub upside down on a folded blanket or other padding so the bottom of the tub is facing up

Note: If you are working with a roll top tub, place a book or 2x4 beneath the tub rim to easily flip the tub back over when finished.

Step 2 - remove washers and nets from the threaded studs on the bottom of the tub

Remove the washers and nuts from the threaded studs on the bottom of the tub.

Step 3 - Place the bars over the threaded studs, making sure to align them properly

Step 4 - thread a washer an nut onto each stud. Do not fully tighten the nuts; the bar needs to be able to slide back and forth

Step 5 - fit the foot to the bar and tub. Secure the foot to the end of the bar with a flat washer, locking washer and bolt

Note: A very small gap between the foot and the tub is normal.

Step 6 - tighten the nuts that were used to secure the bar to the bottom of the tub. Be care not to overtighten the nut

Once the tub and foot are fitted correctly, tighten the nuts that were used to secure the bar to the bottom of the tub. Be very careful not to overtighten the nut, as this could strip the bolt and crack an acrylic tub.

Step 7 - flip the tub over. Be sure to lift the tub by the rim only. Tighten the levelers on the bottom as needed

After all feet are attached, flip the tub over and allow it to rest on the floor. Be sure to lift the tub by the rim only; never by the feet. Additional adjustments can be made by tightening the levelers on the bottom of the feet.
