Cast Iron tubs are typically drilled at the factory. Due to the delicate nature of the porcelain, we strongly recommend that you do not drill your own faucet holes. Our tubs are available with faucet holes in the wall of the tub, on the rim of the tub or without faucet holes.
Which
tub drilling do I need?
There
are three distinct ways to purchase the faucet drilling for your
cast iron tub.
 |
Traditional
single ended roll-top tubs have been manufactured with the
holes set in the end wall of the tub. Most old tubs were
manufactured with the faucet holes 3 3/8" apart when
measured from the center of each hole. The overflow hole
is typically below the faucet holes in the center. |
 |
Many
reproduction rim mount faucets are made to fit tubs that
are drilled 7" apart when measured from the center of
each hole. The overflow hole is then drilled in the wall
of the tub centered between the two faucet holes. This is
a typical setup for tubs that have curved ends and slipper
style tubs. |
 |
Slipper
tub or free standing water supplies can be used to mount
the tub faucet. In this case, the tub faucet is not physically
mounted to the tub. Only an overflow hole will be drilled
in the wall of the tub. The tub may also be pushed up against
the wall of the home and a wall mount faucet can be mounted
to the wall of the home. |
What
size are the holes drilled?
Sizes
vary and are indicated on the specification sheet with each tub.
Can
I buy the tub without faucet holes?
In
most cases you can buy the tub without faucet holes. All cast
iron tubs have predrilled overflow holes.
Can
I drill the tub myself?
Again,
we strongly recommend that the factory drill holes in the tub
due to the delicate nature of the porcelain.
Can
I buy a tub with custom drilled holes?
We
can drill some cast iron tubs to your specifications. The slipper,
double slipper and dual on the pedestal or feet can all be custom
drilled on the rim of the tub. We can not custom drill a tub
on the inside wall of the tub. Contact customer service for pricing
and specifications.
