Cleaning
Acrylic tubs are a solid surface, which means the color goes all the way through the acrylic sheet. The color is not painted or sprayed on.
Whether you have an acrylic
soaking tub, acrylic clawfoot tub or an acrylic air bath tub, the tub is very easy to clean as there are no pores in the acrylic. Most dirt will simply wash off with clean water. We recommend using liquid dish washing soap such as Joy, Palmolive, or similar. Specialty acrylic cleaners are also an option, including environmentally friendly Cramer Kitchen & Bath Acryl Star. Clorox bleach, Windex, ammonia based glass cleaners, Formula 409 and Fantastic are stronger cleaners that are also safe to use.
Never clean your bath with Scrubbing Bubbles, Goof Off Paint Remover or any type of thinners or acetones. Use of these chemicals will destroy the acrylic and void your warranty. |
Repair
Scratches and dulling can be removed with a liquid polisher such as Cramer Kitchen & Bath Acryl Star or Gel-Gloss, or a metal polish.
If your tub is lightly scratched, you can easily buff it out with polishing compound like buffing out fine scratches on a new car.
Deep scratches or burns can be removed by use of very fine sandpaper (1500 grit) and then finishing with a liquid polish. 1500 grit sandpaper is available at most automotive paint stores. When sanding, move in a circular motion and cover an area wider than the scratch. Always wet the sandpaper with water to avoid scratching the surface. Repeat until the scratch is eliminated. Finally, polish the area with polishing compound to bring back its original shine. Use a soft cloth and a small amount of polish to buff the surface. Repeat as needed. |
