| Abbreviations: |
| OD: The Outside Diameter of tube or pipe. OD for pipes remains constant regardless of what weight or grade of pipe is used. |
| ID: The Inside Diameter of tube or pipe. |
| IPS: Stands for Iron Pipe Size. Commonly used to measure brass and galvanized piping. Sized at the fitting, by its Inside Diameter. |
| FIP: Female Iron Pipe. Threaded on the inside of the pipe. |
| MIP: Male Iron Pipe. Threaded on the outside of the pipe. |
| NPT: National Pipe Thread. Tapered pipe used on threaded pipes and fittings. |
