- Functions:
- Passage sets are for interior doors with no need for locks, and are often used for rooms in the general living area, dens and basements.
- Dummy sets are used for doors where closure is not needed, such as bi-fold pantry doors and some closet doors. Knobs do not turn on dummy sets and essentially function as pulls.
- Privacy sets are often used where locking functionality is desired, such as bathrooms and bedrooms. They have a pin that enables locking from the inside, but also have an emergency release access hole from the outside.
- Trim only are used with existing locks provided that the existing spindle accepts fine threaded knobs (20 threads per inch).
- 2-1/8" Bore Installation: Most sets will cover a standard 2-1/8" diameter bore.
- Door Thickness: Most interior door sets include a spindle for use on 1-3/8" - 1-3/4" thick doors.
- Backset: Most knob sets are available with 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" backset.
- Using With Old Locks: Some of our sets can be used with an existing lock, provided that the existing spindle is compatible with the knobs (see individual products for details). For use with existing locks, order the trim only option.
