After tub
and tub faucet installation has been
properly performed, follow the directions below to install the shower
enclosure and riser assembly. All tub faucets and shower enclosures should
be installed by a qualified, licensed plumber. You may need a second person
when installing the shower enclosure. The following tools are also recommended:
- screwdrivers
- adjustable
wrench
- Teflon
- tubing
cutter or hacksaw
- drill
See our Tub
Drain Tips and Water Supply Line Tips for further instructions and diagrams.
- Shut
off the water supply valves before installation.
- Slip
shower riser connector onto top half of shower riser pipe. Hand tighten
9" below the bend in the pipe.
- Connect
the bottom half of the riser pipe to the top half using the riser coupling.
Be sure to use Teflon on the two connections.
- The riser
pipe can be cut to desired height by measuring and removing excess pipe
off the bottom of the shower riser.
- Slip
the riser nut off of the top of the faucet and onto the riser pipe.
- Push
the riser cone washer onto the bottom of the riser pipe.
- Insert
riser pipe with cone washer into the faucet. Lightly thread the riser
nut. Do not tighten as this will be adjusted later.
- Note
that the tub wall is sometimes slanted. The riser nut and cone washer
will allow the riser pipe to remain vertical even with a slanted tub
wall.
- Adjust
the shower riser connector on the riser pipe to the desired height of
the shower enclosure.
- Measure
the distance from the back wall to the shower riser connector while
holding the riser pipe vertical. Cut the shower riser wall brace (Part
A) to desired length.
- Mount
wall escutcheon and connect riser wall brace.
- Use shower
enclosure connector and shower riser connector to connect the two shower
ring pieces together to form a complete ring. Use 8 set screws to secure
connectors to ring through pre-drilled holes.
- Hold the shower
enclosure level and measure for ceiling support (Part B). Cut ceiling
support to desired length and attach to ceiling with ceiling escutcheon.
- Thread shower head
onto pipe with included bushing. Use Teflon on all threads.
- Make any final adjustments
and tighten shower riser nut at faucet.
