| Bronze Casting Process

The bronze pieces of our Whittington Collection hardware line are made using traditional metalworking techniques that have been able to withstand the test of time.
Skilled craftsmen begin by making sand cast molds of the hardware item. Then, hot molten bronze is poured into the mold and allowed to cool. When the hardware is ready, the molds are broken and the raw pieces are removed.
After some light sanding and polishing, the hardware is ready to be finished. The Bronze Patina finish is applied by hand, the pieces are allowed to dry, and then they are ready to be installed.
Because the bronze is cast, surface marks such as pitting, veining, and natural variations in texture are desired and should be expected. This makes each individual piece a unique addition to your home. |
Finish Properties

| Bronze Patina is a finish with a warm hue, golden undertones and natural variations in color. Because the bronze is not lacquered, it has a matte finish that looks beautiful in any light.
Because it is a living finish, the Bronze Patina on your hardware will change over time. It will show signs of use, especially where it is most often touched, and may darken or lighten significantly throughout the years. This desired characteristic of the finish allows each piece to show the history of your home.
