Please note
that tub installation varies greatly. The following are general guidelines
for installing our cast acrylic tubs. Flooring should be level and sound.
All tubs should be installed by a qualified, licensed plumber.
Adjusting
Acrylic Feet
If you
purchased a tub with acrylic feet (also called resin feet), you may
adjust them to compensate for a floor that is not quite level.
- Check
the tub on all four feet for square.
- If
you notice any rock in the tub, you may file down one or more of the
feet to compensate.
- A rough
hand file run over the bottom of the foot can be used to remove excess
material.
- If
needed, the foot can also be packed up to increase height using automotive
body repair putty (Bondo).
Fixing
the Tub to the Floor
Check
to see if your tub came with metal fixing plates. If not, there is generally
no need to affix your tub to the floor as the weight is sufficient to
hold it in place. For those tubs that do have metal fixing plates, follow
the instructions below.
- Prior to securing,
check the bath is square on all four feet. If necessary the feet can
be filed down or discretely packed out to eliminate rock caused by an
uneven floor. See instructions above.
- Thread the screw
through the counter sunk hole in the metal plate and screw into the
predrilled hole in the bottom of the bath leg. Repeat this process with
all four legs.
- Secure the bath
to the floor using a suitable fixing method for your floor type. The
floor fixing plates can be set at an angle so that they are out of view.
