    Looks great, performs terribly

Comments about Abbington Victorian Thermostatic Shower With Hand Shower - 1/2"" IPS:

We renovated our master bathroom with mostly signature hardware products about 5 years ago. The products looked great and were reasonably priced. We were hesitant because of the pricing. When the all the components arrived, everything looked good and appeared to be solid construction....sturdy and weighty...I thought this indicated quality. That's where the positives end. There were lots of challenges during install due to alignment and non standard threads. As per one of the other reviewers, the nickel finish started flaking off (in isolated areas) and not due to chemical or abrasive cleaning. Now the shower mixer/thermostat is failing. Additionally our sink faucets began leaking after 6 months. I followed instructions to clean the faucet cartridge which has not helped. This is a case where paying less for the look we wanted, has hurt us in the long run. In summary, looks great initially, performs poorly.

Comments about Abbington Victorian Thermostatic Shower With Hand Shower - 1/2"" IPS:

We have had this shower installed in our bathroom now for 10 years. Never again will I choose oil rubbed bronze as a finish! Within the first 3 months of installation, the bronze finish began to flake off. I had not used ANYTHING to clean the shower - all that came in contact with it was water. When I called customer service about this issue, I emailed pictures and everything. They came back with the conclusion that I used some sort of chemical cleaner, which I had not, so they did not honor the warranty. (They basically accused me of lying.) Over the 10 years that we've had the shower installed, the hand sprayer completely broke off - the threads that the hand sprayer connect to just corroded and broke. The thermostatic unit needed replacement, and now at 10 years, the thermostatic unit is going again and the shower is leaking - dripping from the shower head. We are at a crossroad - do we try to repair this shower further, or do we order a completely new shower to replace this one? All in all, the shower looks really nice, and I will say that the rain shower is quite powerful, but this shower does not stand up to the test of time. Not a high quality item at all.

      Beautiful, but difficult

Comments about Abbington Victorian Thermostatic Shower With Hand Shower - 1/2"" IPS:

We had this install in our circa 1895 home during a bathroom remodel in 2010 or 11. The original contractor was clueless, so we hired a separate plumber-who was at first unfamiliar with this "European design" (per plumber). IT is Lovely, and adds that perfect historic upscale touch I was searching for. We have had issues, at first I thought it was a learning curve, as the operation of adjusting temp is unusual. We have had to have a plumber look at it twice, as the anti scald feature will get stuck and make it impossible to fluctuate the temp. I still love it and came to the site today to request directions, which never came(to my knowledge) with the original purchase.

I had this installed by my contractor in 2015. It works as expected with no issues. We are renovating another bathroom and will probably order another.
